Areas Of Focus
I think of good mental health as not just the absence of sadness or “negative” feelings or experiences in our life but also how vibrant and energized we can feel about our daily life! The absence of “bad” does not always mean everything is “good”. Together, we look for ways to feel like you are living the life you want to live and that your actions align with the type of person you’d like to be.
I am a licensed social worker with over 15 years in the field. My experience includes working in large hospitals in the Greater Toronto Area as well as private therapy in supporting individuals and couples with a wide range of experiences. I truly love bearing witness to the experiences and stories of others and I love to learn about each person I work with. All people have the ability to grow and heal when the right kind of support is provided and I love to empower individuals to cultivate self-awareness, develop coping skills, and build resilience in the face of adversity.
In my practice, I often see moms of small and pre-teen/teen children. I have a special interest in working with people who identify as helpers in their personal or professional lives – such as healthcare workers, “people pleasers”, and parentified kids who are used to taking on a significant (“over-functioning”) roles in their relationships with family or partners. It can feel challenging for these individuals to constantly give to others without prioritizing their own well-being, often leading to experiencing burnout or feeling resentful.
Every person is different so I take an integrative approach, using evidence-based models such as Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Emotion Focused therapy, Positive Psychology, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness to tailor our sessions to your needs.
I provide a compassionate and safe space, where we build a trusting and empathetic relationship. I love meeting new people, hearing their stories and finding the common threads we all have in our human experience. In our time together, expect a judgement-free space, some humor and lots of support!
If you’re ready to get started, I always offer a 15-min consult to see if it feels like the right fit. I’d love to help you live the life you envision for yourself.
